The web has made it easier for people to find evidence (because of links and search), but also harder (because of information overload, and because filters aren't good enough at weeding out low-value information).

Society suffers because science journals don't publish research that doesn't show a "significant" finding. So when something (for example, a new drug) has no effect, people don't find out about it.
