Please tag: SEP, teh intarwebbs be destoying yooth, television, lack of parental guidance, why would children be looking at jyte when there's two girls one cup in the world?,
Meh, I'm not against children seeing Jyte, I was just simply stating that people should be careful of what they're posting.
People are always using the excuse, "Oh but they can find it on other sites so why not put it here as well, doesn't make any difference" well thats what every other site says and so the cycle continues around and around.
If the child is able to see it that means that clearly the parent has decided that the child is allowed to see it. It is the parent's job to monitor their children to the extent that their children need monitoring.
I will not give up avenues for adult discussion just because they are inappropriate for children. Jyte clearly states that you must be 14 or older to make an account. It is in no way intended for children. Any child who is here is the responsibility if their adult guardian. If their adult guardian can't parent, that's not my problem.
And I think the idea of removing all adult content to protect children is one of the worst things out there. It will destroy a vital means of communication if it catches on, and I will fight it.
I have two very young nephews (also some not very young nephews and nieces, but they're not relevant at the moment). They won't see Jyte, because their parents monitor their activities to the extent they feel necessary. They are taught which sites they may go to, and they have software that limits their browsing. As they get older, they will have less of that and more freedom. My older nieces and nephews probably could find Jyte, because they are deemed capable of handling the content they run into.
Well, it's a generalization. The problem is, some things can't be solved with good parenting. Sometimes people do parent well and there are still problems. I was just parodying, "Science: it works, bitches" And, in general, parenting does work, it's just that the way I worded it is a bit of an overstatement if we're taking it to a larger context.
I said nothing about removing adult content off jyte, and I would oppose that Idea, it would completely lose the attraction of Jyte.
Some parents aren't aware of the world of computers, such as my parents, they were brought up without computers and really have no knowledge of how to use software that limits their children's browsing. Children don't nessecarily do what they are told.
You don't need software. If you're sitting there with your child, you should be able to simply watch what they do. If you are letting your child use a computer unsupervised, then you should have enough confidence in the child to be able to handle what you are doing.
There's nothing wrong with letting a child who is able to handle it go to the store alone. But if your child isn't, accompany them to the store. But don't tell people that streets are a bad idea, because children might get hurt.
Most people I know don't sit with their children. They plonk them in front of the television with the cartoon network blaring out and get on with their own lives.
DeWe, it's not my fault that they are probably bad parents.
Sesame Street is actually good for kids, on average. Although any television is bad for a baby (child younger than 2). Too much television, of course, runs other risks though. It generally means they aren't getting enough physical activity, and it can mean they're getting too much rapidly changing stimulus.
"I was just simply stating that people should be careful of what they're posting." -- no you weren't. you were stating that children can see it. if you meant to imply that therefore people should be careful, you didn't do a very good job -- and if you want to now, you should claim it.
You're right Vynce, I was simply stating the kids can see it. And as an after thought I said that people should be careful what they're posting, but I take that bit back after hearing the arguements put before me.

I also heard that Jyte can be viewed via Jyte
Kids can see a big fat bloke's arse if they want to: with google, anything is possible.

Jyte is safe for innocent preteen girls.

Yes, but so what?

Rachel: I agree with Ben. That would be make an awesome claim. (And yes, by awesome, I do mean totally sweet.)

They're not bad, just normal.
