I've seen too much evidence both ways. The sun has caused greater disturbances in temperature in the past. If the jet streams move around, we're probably screwed. If we stop pollution immediately it might cause a super heating effect as part of the warming is masked by the amount of daily pollutants re-injected into the atmosphere. A volcano could screw it all up. A comet could screw it all up. The earths core spin could change and alter the amount of solar radiation penetrating our atmosphere and could screw it up. Nuclear war could screw it up.
There are just too many variables. I'm not willing to succumb to global government because half of people are convinced.
I think we could do more to prevent it by restoring private property rights, and punishing those who illegally pollute other people's property. If everyone had to deal with their own trash I think that would be a good start.
It's been 10 years since global warming peaked in 1998. And 1998 was by no means the hottest year on record! It's just that it's been cooler than 1998 for the last 10 years! Most of the really high temps on record were 100-or-so years ago. That's why people were crying about global cooling back in the 70's! Get a clue, people. Global Warming is a political hoax. The whole thing is designed to scare you into poverty, and acceptance of government regulation.

OH MY GOD! IT'S ALMOST A DEGREE!
Yes, an *average* *global* degree. That says little about regional maximums.

I find that chart to be extremely disturbing.
