Diet doesn't always affect weight. For a lot of people, changing their diet won't help them lose weight at all. Weight is far more complicated than just diet and exercise - neither of which have ever affected my weight unless they were connected to health problems or medication. Health problems and medication have both affected my weight quite noticeably.
Well, I weighed (is that the correct past tense? :)) over 97kg two years ago. Then I realized that something had to change.
So I ate nothing and only drank water for 6 days, then I started jogging and were more careful about what I'm eating.
After half a year I was down to 80 kg. Now I'm at 76kg, still have a little bit of fat on my belly, but I'm feeling better than ever. :)
I still go to BurgerKing, I still eat pizza, I just don't do it as often any more and I tend to order less at BK. I drink fewer soft drinks, instead I drink more tea and water and I eat more fruits instead of sweets and chips. Grapes are a great substitute for sweets & chips at an evening in front of the TV. :)
That's great. It definitely works for some people - especially the combination of a more healthful diet with exercise. But it doesn't work for everyone.
And, as I said, I've never seen a change in my weight due to diet without a health problem occuring at the same time. I'd have expected to have weight changes in my adulthood due to very different patterns of diet and exercise. Instead, my weight stayed exactly consistent until health problems started to mess with it.
I thought, maybe I'm just weird, but then I did some research and found out that's true for a lot of people.
Eating nothing for 6 days is very unhealthy. Not as unhealthy as being a fat ass, but still unhealthy.
1000 calorie deficit a day should be your maximum rate of weight loss. That translates into 2 pounds a week. Slower is better.
Sounds like you're on the right track. I'd knock out BK from your diet though. Fast food is really just junk. If you're going to eat something unhealthy, make sure it's really worth it.

Boooooooorrrrrrrring. the small percentage of people with legitimate barriers to weight loss aren't interesting. By and large, fat people are lazy and irresponsible
Eh, dieting is ineffective. Exercise can be ineffective for weight loss, as well, but I don't think weight tends to be the problem.
On a side note, you need to be moderately wealthy to lose weight in a healthy fashion. Soups, salads, and fruit come at a ludicrous premium in comparison to chips, dips, candy, and sodas.
I lost a lot of weight by increasing my activity levels and a low carb "atkins type" diet. I might add that I am not lazy or irresponsible. I was quite ill and had to take steroids which caused me to gain about 40 lbs.

I'm tired of hearing about the small percentage of people with legitimate barriers to weight loss every time the subject of weight loss, obesity, etc comes upI loose weight with Montignac. No pills no fad diet.

Also, dieting often causes weight gain.

This is a profoundly stupid comment.

*wince* Yeah, steroids'll do that to you. Nasty things, but sometimes they're better than the alternative.
