Though I sometimes leave out periods at the end of a statement, or not capitalize all of the letters that should be capitalized, I don't type things like "R U RDY 4 2NIT?"
Well, I object to it on the basis of principle. Adulterating the English language for the purpose of expediency is somewhat of a slippery slope, as we've seen.
There's some things I learned on IRC very related to this.
1) If you don't spell correctly and use correct grammar, the chances of misunderstanding go up. The purpose of email, SMS, Jyte, etc. is communication. It is silly to intentionally degrade your message.
2) Since you will occasionally find that you can't fit enough text in a given time or space, it is good to be able to reword, tighten and summarize your ideas. Practicing doing so is likely to improve your writing and thinking skills.
Of course, with Jyte the second item is clearly not a primary focus for me.

Just properly understandable.
I'm lazy.
Except when speaking lolcat for comic effect.
I'm half on half with this, because, yes, I use it when I'm smsing but not when I'm on the computer
but what the hell, the 'r u rdy 4 2nite' format is quicker and people do understand it. so why not use that one.. it gets the job done
lolcat can't be phrased in any other real way, though. It's just...lolcat.

I honestly only do this for the beautify of its juxtaposition with horrible spelling and abbreviations.
and teh lulz.
yeh. i abbr., but i dont liek 2 tiep liek thiss. serisly. (i no its misspelled. :P)
texting/iming: abbr.
email: I don't abbreviate.
Jack, that's either "to beautify it by juxtaposing it" or "the beauty of its juxtaposition". Proof-read, mmm'k?
unless i run out of room in a text. 160 characters just isn't enough sometimes.
