Recycling is nonesense: too much energy is consumed in moving reusable waste around and reprocessing it. Packaging should be simpler, complex goods should be designed to be simpler, designed to last and have user servicable parts: all to help the west consume less.
More effort should be made by individuals to make direct trade or barter. We have it easy now, and are becoming inherently lazy and decadent: In twenty years time, the current rich nations could be as materially poor as current developing nations and the planet could be a shithole beyond repair.

The fact that the educated middle classes of the UK are so slow to realise that even the fruitless recycling system we have is rotten, simply bears testament to our decline: that is to say decline if the rate of waste of materials surpasses our ability to appreciate the true value of those materials: only time will tell.
So I agree with you for disagreeing, Roly: idealism counts for nothing.
Mine, at least.
Thanks, flower; you're one in the polulation that we all need to have around.
Meanwhile, the rats are dying like people in the UK.
Ich war dieser Mann.
