There already is such an object in the backend. This is an interesting idea. We'll think about it.
An alternative is to cluster them, like cave/caverns/spelunking, but that would take work and generate false positives if done automatically.
and by hand. foo and foos are two different things; also sex and sexes; and i would argue that cave cred and spelunking cred are highly related but not identical.
