We are terrorized—and our own (American) government has facilitated such through bombastic media. One blatant example was the terror alert system that happened to increase in intensity every time something politically embarrassing occurred or during crucial elections. Our society has been played like a fiddle by opportunist political thugs.
I think it's right, in the case of the US. Terrorism's main goal is to control massive amounts of people, and in the US they succeeded -- thanks to the government's efforts. I think Prunella is right: the power hungry politicians can be thankful for terrorists for graciously providing the very excuses they were looking for.
I am not relinquishing anything relative to the horrible, horrible things that have been done as acts of terror. They are undeniably horrendous, but they are overt, and easily quantifiable as such. It angers me more in some ways that politicians byway of our government are covertly funneling the fear created by terrorists in opportunistic ways in the name of protection and patriotism. It is exacerbating & prolonging the emotions originally caused unjustifiably caused by terrorist and I resent it and feel that it is also unjust.
depends on who youre refering to as terrorist. if youre talking about the american military, then i guess they are winning with the evil genius plan of creating a civil war to tear apart iraq so they can suck iraq dry like the vultures they are.
I believe 911 was an inside job, caused by the real terrorists, and that the 750k Iraqis dead should'nt be ignored, quit fighting arabs hiding in caves and mind your own business is what i say.

Sorry but what a load of insulting crap - it bothers me when arguments like this spin off and we forget the atrocities that are committed.
What you effectively do is absolve the terrorist for his shit to be about as political as that geeky guy from South Park the movie.
By all means analyse cause and effect but dont let the real perps off the hook - because then they really have won

911 was an inside job, bush is a terrorist, but they havent gotten us all yet, their fox news wont get us all gosh damnit it wont.
I believe that terrorism will always be there.
and it will never be won, it will keep going up and down. one minute it seems they are stronger and the next minute we are.
Still I believe we need to keep fighting. To stop fighting just means that we're letting them win.

please tag "living in fear"
(i vote agree, but I only actually agree in some senses)
Depends on whether you define their goal as a concrete political shift or to simply terrorize. The latter has been successful.
