The simplest way to clarify an ambiguous claim is to make a related claim restating it with the necessary caveats.

clearly it is simpler to merely comment on an ambiguous claim.

For the commenter, yes, but not for people who only see the claims on the main page. Commenting doesn't clarify the original claim, although that will change if claim editing is allowed later.

I didn't say it was best; I didn't say it was most convenient for everyone. I said it was simpler.

Jyte appears to engender in people an urge to swim through claims, clicking on things that pass through the filter of their grazing. Few people look closely at everything they vote on. For example, a claim that states "Provided Pirates were to beat Ninjas, the defeat of the ninja would be swashbuckling related" swiftly becomes noun(pirate) verb(beat) noun(ninja). The krill of the claim identified, the user clicks, and perhaps leaves a comment. Probably a comment like "No way! Ninjas Rule!!11oneone"
Therefore, I advise an equally effective solution for less effort. If the question can be boiled down to three bullet points, do so. If not, shrug your shoulders and walk away.
