The King James Bible translation was designed to support the monarchy.

By 10 Rachel on February 24, 2007

There were several other English translations, but many of them kind of implied that God wasn't telling you to totally trust and submit to your rulers. The King James translation was designed to be a faithful translation, but whenever possible say or imply that God intends for you to trust the leaders of your nation.

You can get some info on that from this summary, but more if you do thorough research:

The King James was designed with a bunch of editorial leanings, some were pro monarchy, but some were also pro-christian orthodoxy. I can't rightly say that the biggest flaw in the text is it's skewedness toward favoring monarchs, partially because Constantine had already added that particular gaffe.

Anyone interested in real discussion of this topic should read Misquoting Jesus. It's probably the definitive approachible work on the text of the old testiment.

I may be on crack, but my reading of English history was that the King James Bible translation was designed to support a claim of heterosexuality by the first Stuart sovereign. As friggin if. Much love, James. Peace out.

I'm not saying there weren't other biases as well. Just that the Bible was designed to be pro-monarchy. Given the instructions to those translating it, I think it is fairly clear that this was the case.

Certainly, will agree to that. As far as supporting the monarchy, well there were two civil wars which followed shortly thereafter, with both sides supported by the same corporate interests. So the upshot was for the King James Bible to support a structure of imperial expansion based on corporate hegemony.
