The iPod's user interface calls the popular wisdom about Apple's UI design genius into question.

For years, people have been telling me that Apple is just better at UI, and that's why Macs sell. The iPod refutes that claim single-handedly, as far as I'm concerned.

It took me awhile to figure it out, which is weird and rare.

Hell, I still can't figure out Mac interfaces, but that's just me.

Win iTunes is the worst software I have to use. It pops up unwanted explorer windows, takes couple of seconds to do anything with iPod's playlist and has a lot of other usability issues.

the normal ipod's are all just lists. Everything that isn't a list is a playing screen or a scrolling note screen! Once you grasp that moving your finger around moves the cursor up and down and that clicking the middle selects it and that clicking menu goes back, that's the whole interface covered right there! Anyone who can't figure out that the button with the play/pause symbol on it plays and pauses, and that the next and previous symbols go to the next and previous chapter/track/album, probably shouldn't be using any kind of audio playback equipment, regardless of brand or type. If a list based UI is too complicated, you should probably stay away from MP3 players with screens all together.
