I should have said my household, I wasn't trying to say that I throw away that much on my own. But rather that we either cook too much, which ends up being thrown away, and that the combined amount of that, as well as what I and my family do throw away, could feed an extra person.

Most of the grain we grow in Kansas goes to be processed as cattle feed.
Only when I clean the refrigerator of my roommates rotting food. At that point, however, it really isn't food anymore, I suppose.
