Are birth control pills responsible for the irresponsibility of our youth and young adults in the 21st century? Is it somehow related to the creation of our highly promiscious society?
Leaving aside the gigantic personal freedom issues and the risks involved in pregnancy, we live in an overpopulated world full of people who will have sex no matter what you think. Increasing the birth rate while decreasing the ratio of planned and wanted babies born seems like the dumbest thing possible.
A LOT of women I know just need them for hormone regulation and to alleviate symptoms related to menstruation... not just because they're going out and getting boinked!
Yes, that's part of why I used the antibiotic reference. I used them to prevent ovarian cysts and endometriosis, because I'd like to be able to have kids when I'm ready, and I'd rather not go sterile while I'm waiting. Plus, the health benefits of birth control pills were pretty large. It's a medication with countless uses.
You're joking, right? Have you looked at the teen pregnancy rate in America? Yes, today's youths grow up in an over-sexualized society. No, not enough are using birth control or even protection for that matter.
I think you need to seriously reexamine your logic there (or complete lack thereof).
Recent studies have show that the Abstinence Only education has accomplished... nothing. Tens of millions of dollars pushing a philosophy which was designed for failure.

it is possible (though rare) to conceive while on birth control pills
the young child conceived thus will have no chance to survive
thus it is equivalent to abortion to use birth control while sexually active
i suppose there is nothing wrong with using the pills for other purposes while not having sex
but then you can't really call them "birth controll" pills
Ah, see, I was talking about the other type of fail. The one where they don't do what they're supposed to.
Several forms of birth control center around preventing a fertilized egg from attaching. When that fertilized egg fails to implant in the womb, it's working exactly the way it's supposed to.
This is partially my fault, for being under the wrongheaded assumption that conception meant that an egg was fertilized *and* attached to the womb. Also, for assuming that since digory could use a keyboard, he was also capable of telling the difference between a fertilized egg and a viable child.

Even if it is, they shouldn't be outlawed. Should antibiotics be outlawed when it also helps encourage promiscuity?

No, no, wait. I thought of something more stupid.

A good point, too. I went on birth control pills before I'd French-kissed. I had two medical reasons, and acne!
are you for real
Should claims be questions?

"I agree that Is Marriage Irrelevant Today?"
Make claims with sane grammar, this is "Agree/Disagree" not Yes/No.
Haha, WHOOPS.
That was a totally screwed up mistake of a comment.
What's irresponsible is having more kids in an overpopulated world.

Uhm. You're mistaken.
Birthcontrol pills occasionally fail, and when they do, the child conceived is viable.
How does this change (if at all) your opinion of birth control pills, Digory?
the child is still viable
but can not implant in the womb
and thus dies
however, if you were right about how they worked
i would be just fine with them
search it on google
to find plenty of documentation

Foul, excellent point.
"the child is still viable

That's not a child.
