It is (probably) made to trick people out of their money and have them depending on the power hungry leaders of the sect. Or, at least, it's what happens.

Not evil, just idiotic. A stupid religion made for stupid people.. That like most things that are stupid, end up costing a LOT of money.

[…] The sudden and abrupt deletion of all individuals occupying the lower bands of the tone scale from the social order would result in an almost instant rise in the cultural tone and would interrupt the dwindling spiral into which any society may have entered.

A few examples on who belongs to the "2.0 and down" part of the tone scale: psychiatrist, prostitutes, the mentally ill, etc. Also, a few lines below the quote he explicitly writes about "1.2 and down" that "this area never becomes overtly destructive." Yet, he wants to "dispose of them quietly and without sorrow" if they refuse to comply.

From my point of view its just like the religion that believes that GOD is a flying spaghetti monster.
Fascinating. Stupid as usual, but fascinating. So a happily genocidal belief system is the same as a rhetorical gambit to undermine an antiscientific menace.
Still haven't found that moral compass yet, huh? Maybe it's under the couch.
