That doesn't necessarily limit Ruby, it just means might have to look elsewhere for other XML gems.
Aaaaa-Aaaaa-Aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaa: libxml2 Aaaaaa-aa
Come again, nic? Are you pro-libxml2, anti-libxml2, or do you just like typing "a"?
Michael, if you can find me a cross-platform gem for an XML parser that doesn't suck, I'll love you forever. And libxml-ruby doesn't count, since it has native dependencies that have to be compiled separately under Windows.
can't someone just port http://codespeak.net/lxml/ to ruby already? sheesh ;)
Simple-Xml!
Blah. Go figure that I realize /now/ that the gem is called xml-simple.
It's a port of Grant McLean's XML::Simple (perl module), and it's beautiful.
Whatever comes with is worthless if it can be easily and seriously extended.
XmlSimple is nice, but it depends on REXML, so you still inherit REXML's terrible performance and overhead.
