If Libertarianism is about limiting government power, these Republicans have helped the cause immeasurably. They've neutered government controls on pollution, domestic spying, warmaking, taxing the megarich, etc. and handed the power over to private interests. This is in harmony with Libertarianism, no?
But they've made every aspect of our private lives their business, they've sanctioned domestic spying, created the biggest deficits in history.
reducing taxes and reducing controls on pollution is libertarian I suppose, but warmaking and domestic spying are actions undertaken by the government and decreasing inter-governmental controls there is at best outside the scope of "libertarian"
I'm a long time Libertarian, and I think pollution control is one of those very few areas to have a government to regulate, it presents an equal threat to all people that is beyond the ability of local governments to control....
Domestic spying on the other hand is bollocks....
