The proof that this claim is false is the beatles' "Love," remixed to death by George Martin who really should be ashamed of himself.
Wasn't 'Love" just "Stars on 45" with original sample material?
A remix to a song is like the sequel to a movie, same actors and same plot. The only difference is a few more twists and turns.
This makes me want to shoot people.
them's fightin' words
Some notable (if obscure) examples to the contrary include Gentle Giant and early Yes.
Always is way too all-inclusive (obviously) for one thing, and secondly it depends on the quality of the original song. In my opinion, this is almost never true.
