Perl's great too, for that matter. They each have their strengths and weaknesses.
They're both decent languages. I find Python to be annoying for it's half-hearted OO, what with str(), repr() and the like. But it's implementation is faster than ruby 1.8, and ruby has some warts language-wise too.
