True of people in general, sadly. Everyone can have an opinion regarding racism or homosexuality. In order to have an opinion regarding literature, one has to read.
Religion seems to be the biggie here. Fuelled by the logical positivism of science types generally.
I certainly take more interest in something I feel passionate about, and generally I find that religion and sexuality often carry more prejudice than my opinion of the book I am reading or my favorite artist.
I am a very open-minded person, and very much dislike prejudice, negative generalizations, and open discrimination (against women, against race, against religion, against sexual preference). As a result, just reading a claim can get my blood boiling.
