My limited understanding is that they can play nice together without being integrated.
OpenID and hCard could and mayhap should be integrated in some fashion, but the way this is phrased implies that the result should go into OpenID which I don't agree with.

I love microformats. They have their limits, and in this case are perhaps not such a good idea for use as a "wire protocol" ?
