Love means never having to say you're sorry.

Didn't see it, and I thought I'd get some feedback on this classic one.

I have no idea how people interpret that to get anything true out of it. Maybe I'm missing something, but it sounds incredibly stupid.

I really would appreciate it if people who agreed explained why.

To me, love means caring about someone and valueing them and wanting them to be happy and well. When you hurt them, you should say you're sorry. Why wouldn't you? Loving someone doesn't make you perfect. You're likely to mess up at some point, and then you apologize.

I agree with you, Rachel. If I care about someone and I did something wrong, the only reason why I wouldn’t be sorry would be that I don’t see that I did something wrong.

My take on it is that it somehow becomes impossible for anything you do to actually hurt the other person. Er... emotionally that is.

Maybe also that the other person wouldn't need an apology, they would already know that you were sorry.
Or maybe the other person wouldn't want an apology, since being hurt becomes ok/meaningless, relatively speaking.

Wow... that's weird. The more I care about someone, the more they can hurt me. I think that's true for a lot of people.

And while I'm very perceptive, I can't actually read minds. So, I don't know for sure someone is sorry if they don't tell me they are.

I'm impressed with all the relationships that apparently never fight, hurt each other, or generally have problems.
