(it should be fairly easy to preserve a count of how many times each capitalization gets used, and show the most common. this might have interesting trickle effects into their DB's referential integrity, if they use such...)

Ugh, that sounds like a pain in the ass to code for a tiny benefit.
Also, I don't construe it as a benefit. Capitalization has semantic value.

Yes; jyte should preserve information when possible. This introduces noise, but that's better than dampening signal.
