Not sure I agree... On the one hand, creds lose a lot of weight if given to people you don't really know, if you base yourself on what other people have given. On the other hand, the cred implementation seems resilient and balances itself.
A valid point, though this is not a claim about autosuggestion based on creds the person already has -- this is about interests the users have expressed. One idea I had was to show interests the users have in common, so that the person doing the granting could look at the list and see if any of them seemed worth giving.
note that these are only suggestions. think of them as memory-jogs. one of the problems I run into on jyte is that I see someone I know and go "hey, yeah, this guy knows his stuff" -- but i can't necessarily think of what his stuff is.
