It wasn't until Glad Rag Kraken and reinventingwyscan both changed their icons that I realized I look at the icon in comments before the username.

If I recognize the icon, generally I skip reading the username. When Ben and Robert uploaded similar icons, it took me a while to differentiate their photos. On one occasion I remember reading a block of comments and thinking "I wouldn't expect Ben to say that", when it was actually Robert with a clone of Ben's most recent icon.
Oh, and if applicable, please join the Left looking blurry icons group.

I should have taken more time to get the color closer to his. I was in too big of a hurry to get it uploaded. Had I spent the time, I might have confused more people. Maybe next time.
I've noticed it on other fora too, but hereabouts Patrick's change gave me the largest turn.
