I didn't vote for Nader. Maybe I ought to have, but me an all my friends were coming up on draftable, and I was positive GW was gonna get us into a war.
i would vote for a presidential candidate i didn't think would win if i didn't care about the difference between the ones i did htink would win. but i play the voting game as a game, because i have to, becasue htat's how it works in this country. i wish it didn't, but it does.
that means i never vote a particular way "regardless" of the chances of winning, as other claims in this thread word it. i weigh the odds and the outcomes and i vote after taking it all into account. and i will vote for someone i'm sure will lose if there is no profit in voting for a possible winner, like if there's only one possible winner and i hate him.
I did vote for a 3rd party last time around. I find it pretty pointless to claim that you'd rather not have to vote for one of the major parties but than go ahead and do it anyway. What does that say? Nothing. Pissing in the wind.

I have to be realistic. If there is no hope for him/her to win (ie, he's only on the ballot in five states) then voting for him is pointless.
Seriously, at that point, I would just have to pick the the major candidate whose views best reflect mine.
I'm with Vynce. I voted for the only person I though could beat Bush... not who I wanted to govern.
As an aside, we won, but politics made sre we didn't.

Would and did. John Anderson.
Depends on the voting system in place.
I have voted for a third party as well, but wouldn't do that if I liked either of the main candidates.
I voted for Chuck Baldwin because he most closely matched my views of all the people on my ballot.
