Dear God why‽ JavaScript is cool!
JavaScript the language rocks... JavaScript the implementation in Internet Explorer and early versions of Firefox sucks.
Python shouldn't replace Javascript, but be supported by webbrowsers besides Java. If hardly anybody will be using Javascript in the future, the support for it could be cut.
