I use bash's reverse-history-search (^R)

By 8 Vynce on October 19, 2007

This command is totally my savior.

^R grace => sudo apachectl graceful

it took a while to get used to its behavior for things like what happens when you make a typo in the string you're searching for, and start backspacing. Heck, I still don't know everything Iw ant about how to use it best. But I adore it.

It is groovy.

The shell history functions in bash are generally groovy.

I use command-line history search in ksh and zsh, mostly. Works about the same.

Oh wait, one of my accounts is set to bash.
