On jyte, at the very least, it's very useful for making claims without excluding voters who are not in a relationship with someone who has the same gender, sex, and legal status as the S.O. of the claimant.

"Significant other" is an oppressive patriarchal term that has historical roots in male dominated society and should be spelled "Sygnyfycant other"
