I like helping people, or at least listening to people's issues, but even I get to a point where I want to strangle the Chicken Littles in my life.

You know those people that I'm talking about: the ones for whom the sky is ALWAYS falling. You talk to them, and you ask them how they are, and there is always something wrong. The job sucks, the relationship sucks, the family sucks, their health sucks, whatever. You get to a point where you sort of don't want to ask "how are you" any more, because you know the answer will never be a simple one.

These also tend to be the people who have excuses for everything--nothing is their fault, it was simply bad timing, an annoying coincidence, or simply the situation as it was dealt to them.

These people are not to be confused with normal folks who do, inevitably, have runs of bad luck where, truly, everything IS going wrong in their lives. I'm talking about someone who is always complaining for attention and/or pity.

Who in particular this time? Name names. Wait, I'll guess. You were hanging w/ C&J, and Val the other day. Is this related?

These sorts suck the life out of you. Draining the very will to live if you listen long enough.

They often don't take well to that response. Believe me, sometimes I just can't help but laugh....and laugh....and laugh. This might be considered rude, but I think it might just be self defense.
