I have used SSH to play a movie in ASCII art across campus onto a Mac with video output to a LCD display sitting on an overhead projector.

Of course, as my speakers were in my room, my roommate got to hear it, while those of us in the lab got to see it.
And, to be clear, the LCD display I'm referring to is not a projector itself, but one of those panels that displays the screen, and which can be placed on an overhead projector and have a light shone through it.
Maximizing the window totally overloaded the bandwidth (or terminal refresh capabilities... or both).
