Nobody's complaining about the water being too cold, unless you go a lot farther south I guess. I'm just goofing off making a Mexico-centric version of the inspiring claim.

Not quite. Pulled out the map, I've been in the pacific at 21 degrees N Latitude, and Oaxaca is at about 17 degrees.
I've been in the Indian ocean farther south than that.
