Well, in my family there is a "cooks don't clean" rule, but obviously that doesn't do much when you cook for yourself. Sometimes I'm in the zone and clean as I go along, not leaving terribly much for afterward, but generally, yes. I hate dishes.
Growing up, my mother (who hates to cook) decided "make a mess, clean it up" applied to cooking. That really put the kibosh on my burgeoning love of cooking.
And SOME non-cooks have been of the opinion that I dirty too many dishes.

Oh god, my mom always goes on and on about how great and complex my cooking is and the proceeds to bitch about how many dishes I use.
Funny, my roommate goes on and on about how great her cooking is, and also refuses to clean up after herself.
I can't wait for the day when dishwashers can happily clean baked on grease. Stop researching weapons and address the important things!
