del.icio.us, YouTube, and a few other sites have awful tagging systems.

Jyte, Zooomr, and something else I'm forgetting are much more graceful:
Tags are sentence-capable, more tags, tag hell, video games, not videogames, wow
Tags are not machine identifiers, machines should only care about maybe a unique ID/number of a tag.
Readable tags are immensely more helpful and beneficial to the visitor.

I don't see the problem... you get the same tag, just spread out. Ex: "invisible pink unicorn" becomes "invisible" "pink" "unicorn"
Really, tagging something that way (the latter) would probably provide more hits.
Depends on your search. I like searching for the exact string "Dance Dance Revolution", single word tags blow that ability away.
