I find it amusing that nic states on his profile first that he is a hacker, and then that he runs an OpenID provider complete with SSL certificate security.

The devil's own words:

" I'm a hacker. But don't let that put you off.

I run prooveme.com an SSLed OpenID provider giving away certificates. "

Right, I do believe my response went on your related claim ...

However, yes, I knew .... and yes, I found it amusing anyway. Though, that explanation is found in my comment on your claim inspired by this one. (what a mouthful of a sentence)

@Nick, I'm fine with your claim personally. And I'm fine with the apparent dichotomy.

A hacker is someone who has a disdain for anything that doesn't work. OpenID does work. And prooveme.com works very well.

Who would you rather have in charge of your online identity provision? A hacker or a suit?

I know which I'd choose.

For the record, I don't think there are many OpenID providers run by suits. I think we're going to keep it that way despite the occasional investor suggesting to me that OpenID is a gold mine (it isn't specifically, what you can do with services enabled with it, is).
