I don't know when I should use "different from" instead of "different than".

There is no reason whatsoever for this image except that I think it is cute. Also, one of the tags does not belong.

I'm not so different from you. Yet we are more different than I'd expected.

Use from when comparing nouns.
Use than when comparing a noun and clause.

I know this tidbit and two or three other things about grammar. I almost feel smart now, except I know I'm probably just full of shit.

That's all I have to offer as I've hit the bottom of my knowledge bucket. Perhaps time will refill my bucket.

How about I punch you in the face when you get it wrong? Or would you prefer I trap your cod in the George Foreman grill instead?

Is the Foreman Grill trap different than what my wife does when she's PO'd at me?

Correct usage is as follows:

A is different to B.
A differs from B.

Can you provide a source for this wisdom, felix? I cannot recall any grammar or style guide that suggests "different to" should be used in any circumstance.

Ralph: when I do it, it's been switched on "high" for at least five minutes.
