'Master' is such a relative term. I've heard that it was said of some Go masters that they would be able to beat God. That would seem to suggest that it might take more than eternity to master.

I'll go with the metaphorical minute. As to 'mastery', I think it's an unattainable goal. The Master of Go by Yasunari Kawabata gives a wonderful insight into the complexities involved.
