I feel quite strongly that Jyte, although fun will never fulfill its potential unless major websites start embedding it and using it as a user rating service.

I like cake.
It will, however, cause problems if messianic truth rears it's beautifull golden locked head.
I don't think Jyte depends on any major website. I still believe in the long tail.
Jyte will be fun and have a nice community regardless. It just won't create a genuine and useful cred economy, which I believe is part of its potential.
The "long tail" effect means that niche is viable, it doesn't mean that niche is the pinnacle of what you can attain.
