Plus I think the hype vs. real relevance has biased my opinion to a great degree. I simply fail to see what's the big whoop. It's a hell of a clunky way to communicate in a any real way, and there is the constant distraction of all the pointless applications and adverts.
I've also seen it used really well for organizing small to medium sized events (four to 30 people), or for getting the word out to a certain set of people, but I have to admit that the privacy concerns and account deletion hell at Facebook have put me off.

Not totally useless, but it's also something that largely duplicates functionality available elsewhere.

Facebook is pointless, but not useless.I should add, I have given it a real try as it wasn't nearly as offensive as myspace.
All the kids are using it. It a way for them to... spy on each other, or whatever.
