"Everyone is special" and "no one is special" are not equivalent statements, because the first statement affirms and values the uniqueness of every individual whereas the second does not.

You're speaking of truth value rather than semantic equivalence. You might as well say that "I am not green" and "I am not violet" are equivalent statements — they might both be true, but they don't mean the same thing at all....
Everyone is special does not affirm much of anything as far as I'm concerned. And I find it condescending and belittling of the human spirit, personally.
That's your view and you're entitled to it, but that doesn't make it either timeless or universal.... People can get insulted about just about anything, you know.
Oh, I agree, which is why I was specifying my view as mine. Sometimes on Jyte you try to state universal truths, and sometimes you just vote about yourself personally and share your views. I'm just doing the latter.
