English food is disgusting fatty and tastless
Rick Steins (TV chef got) no hope of convincing us its good.
Go and cook some chips and brussell sprouts for yourself Rick.
Traditional English food? Ben's got it in one. However, I was surprised at just how well I ate in the UK a few years ago: there were so many excellent fresh sandwich choices especially that it often took ten minutes just to decide what to grab for lunch from the cold case. Ireland was much less veggie-friendly -- though it is the only place I've ever seen deep-fried brie.

* shepherd's pie
* bangers and mash
* roast lamb and mint sauce
are all lovely.

I prefer Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall to Rick SteinIt's only bland if you're lucky.

I will probably live longer due to the fact that deep-fried brie is not readily available in my country.English food (which includes many colonial dishes) is one of the most varied and tasty cusines in the world.
@sam you were just looking in the wrong places. My wife has deep fried brie often, when we go out for dinner.
Some of english food is horrible (like boiled eels), but not bland. Some is bland (mash) but not horrible.
But, that's true of many cultures.
