Emacs has great features, but despite using it for years I haven't the foggiest idea how to operate them.
I use vim anyway…

Maybe as an operating system, but the text editor sucks.
Emacs takes about 6 months to get the hang of, but then you'll never go back to another editor again.
Once you get used to Emacs it's the most natural thing. You can live in emacs and never have to leave it to do anything else. Vi's insert & edit modes are a huge pain.
You can also live in your car and never have to leave it. But that would be just as silly.
