Someone else's drug use doesn't defend liberty itself. We didn't beat the British by using heroin.

when you are forced not to do something, doing that thing is a symbolic act of liberty

Drug use can be a result of many things, like running from problems, peer pressure, etc. In many cases it becomes an addiction, and then it's the means and the end in itself.

However, if you use drugs just to show you're free to do it... I guess it falls in the "plain stupid" category...

Drug use should be a personal liberty, there need be no laws against it. The reality is that if adulthood doesn't allow you to make bad decisions, then adulthood doesn't mean anything.
