Consumerism values ecological wisdom only when knowledge is a commodity.

Consumerism regards nature as mostly a supply of raw materials and entertainment.  That's not ecological wisdom — which is much more about spirit, harmony and stewardship.  However, when ecological knowledge becomes a commodity, then consumerism is interested.
