this is about the issue that some of the fireworks display in the 2008 BEijing olympics are fakes! i have read that it's for safety. "filming" the display from a helicopter is quite dangerous so they have decided to use computer generated pictures.

I think any time the news media shows footage of things that didn't really happen in order to improve the emotional impact, and presents it as real footage, that is a big problem.
I don't know how much blame belongs to China and how much belongs to the news media, though. Did the media know it was fake footage?
It is no big deal to me, but it still smacks of dishonesty, lies, trickery... the usual chinese government tricks.
