Once upon a time, the Red Hook brewery made Double Black Stout, flavored with Starbucks espresso. It wasn't caffeinated ... but it tasted like it might be.
I actually was on a taste-testing panel at the Sensory Lab at OSU for a coffee-beer hybrid drink. It had the texture of a Guinness, but tasted more like amaretto. My taste buds were conflicted, but I could probably get used to it.
Sparks isn't caffeinated, but is a redbull type energy drink/malt liquor. I like it despite the fact it tastes like crap. I imagine I'd feel the same way about caffeinated beer.

It's easy to try: crush (part of) a caffeine tablet, dissolve it in a little water, and mix it with your beer.

i'm no doctor, but having one drink containing both stimulants and depressants seems like a bad idea

Caffeine makes me jumpy. Beer makes me relaxed. Both at the same time? I don't wanna know what it feels like.
Cap-beer-chino!
One Portland bar serves the "bootsy collins": espresso shot in a pint of stout.
With a dash of cocaine.
"Cap-beer-chino!"
Yes. Or "Buzz Beer." I remember The Drew Carey Show fondly.
