Jonathan Rascher wanted his own doctrine, so here it is.

By 10 Jonathan Rascher on March 09, 2007

Therefore, let it be known to all that on this ninth day of March, in the Year of Our Lord two thousand and seven (or in the year of Our Great Common Era, for those accursed with that terrible malady of Political Correctness), Jonathan Rascher doth hereby decree this Doctrine, being known as the Rascher Doctrine on the Giving and Receiving of Cred.

I. Thou shalt give cred quite freely, for the sight of an empty cred dot is an abomination.

II. Thou shalt be sure that any cred thou givest is appropriate to he who receives it.

III. Thou shalt receive all cred gladly, without any discontent, for thy cred score shall go up, and there is no negative cred.

IV. Thou shalt not remove cred, unless it was given by mistake (in which case thou shalt find suitable substitute cred), or unless the recipient has been a Royal Ass (in which case thou shalt gleefully watch his cred score drop).

This Doctrine is indeed mine, but perhaps ye shall also find benefit in it, and your cred dots shall grow as great as the wandering stars of the heavens.

Hmm, this got a Google ad for "Bible Ringtone". Maybe my pseudo-archaic language isn't that bad after all.

an interesting missive, but i cannot help but disagree. does voting mean one believe in teh doctrine, or jsut that JR created it? so hard to tell.

i will refrain from voting but say this -- this is the doctrine of Rascher, and need not be everyone's; cred is best when trustable; give cred only to those you trust, and only in areas for which you trust them, or teh features yet to come in the next world will not work so well for you.

Vynce: Voting only confirms that this is my doctrine, it doesn't imply anything about your support of it.

The claim gets high marks for humor, but I echo what Vynce wrote, only with capitalization.  :-p

Article I is contradicted by the presence of trolls, as the doctrine itself noted.

knappster: Duly noted.

May it be known, therefore, that the Rascher Doctrine has been supplanted by the First Revised Rascher Doctrine on the Giving and Receiving of Cred. It is identical to the original Doctrine, save only that Article I shall be ammended thus:

I. Thou shalt give cred quite freely, for the sight of an empty cred dot is an abomination. However, thou shalt not give cred to the Trolls, nor to those who incite Wars of Great Flame, lest thou should be numbered amongst them, and thy cred removed.

(This revision may also be known as the knappster Ammendment to the Rascher Doctrine.)

knappster: See also Article IV on the removal of cred from those who turn start out OK, but turn trollish later.

Verily I say unto ye that the Rascher Doctrine shall rule everlastingly, subject to the third person pronoun in Article II being given its correct case: for it cannot be gainsaid that 'to he' is an abomination second only to the sight of an empty cred dot.

knappster: not only do you get your very own amendment, you've also fallen victim to it.

FWIW ... Jonathan put my name on an amendment that I did not actually write.  I only made a friendly observation about trolls, not about "flame wars".
