As some ambiguity is unavoidable, one should vote on claims based on what you believe the author to have meant.

I don't see how else it's possible to vote. Even if I try to misinterpret the author's intention, I still have an idea of what I think he meant.

if you don't know how it's possible to vote otherwise, search for "pedant" -- there are a lot of claims wher people have voted not based on what they thought the author meant but based on what they could make the words mean.
