Any series that ends with a Deus ex machina, no matter how artfully pulled off, doesn't deserve to be considered high quality fiction. Especially when it ends that way after 1800+ pages of complex plot and character development.

Just wait for the Wheel of Time ending.

The wheel of time will never end. Jordan will ride that cash cow to his death.

He's said this next book is the last.

But then come more prequels!

Maybe. He might not live that long. But again, he's put a cap on the number of those. Said he's planned out a prequel trilogy.

But then, the original series was supposed to be seven books.

i never read the Wheel of Time series : is it good ?

I like it a lot. There are a few books which go pretty slowly (7-10 are mostly mediocre to good with bits of brilliance), but on the whole, it's a great series. If you haven't read them already, I'd wait until the 12th book comes out. That way, in case he snuffs it, you're not stuck agonizing with the rest of us.

but i think i don't have to wait for the 12th book to come out because i will need a little time to read the first 11...

All told, my first time through probably took me about 3 or 4 weeks. Book 12 is likely coming out in 2009.

3 or 4 weeks to read 10 (big) books ? i don't read that fast, and i'd like to read it in english (not my native language) and I read slowier in english.

That time was spread out mostly over the weekends of a few months. But I would get a couple from the library, and then immerse myself in them until I was done.
