A lot of the ignorance in the world comes from poverty.

I was trying to think of the possible (and reasonable) reasons for the disagree votes on the inspiring claim. Bad epistemology, blinkered, outdated or obsolete, assumptions about how one knows anything, is an interesting and plausible cause of much ignorance, but more fundamentally and urgently of course poverty is a great, if not the greatest, cause of ignorance.
