I find them rather ridiculous looking. Unless you are two very large people with a large dog or two to boot, I don't know why you'd spend that much real estate on a bed. If you're really rompers you probably don't stick to the bed anyway.
A California / Western King is 4 inches narrower and 4 inches longer than a regular / Eastern King (72" x 84" versus 76" × 80"). I prefer the regular King because it's closer to a square and allows for easier clockwise rotation on the frame to prevent irregular lumpiness.
